Witnesses

04-14-2024Weekly ReflectionFr. Aruldoss

Dear People of God,

Good morning to you all! First of all, I express my sincere appreciations to all the members of Fundraising& Marketing Committee, Teachers, Parents, Auctioneers, Volunteers and all those who worked for St. Boniface Catholic School Spring Fundraiser last Saturday. Also, a big thanks for those who attended this exciting event with your generous contribution and sacrificial support. I wish and pray that may our Risen Christ bless you all with His choicest blessings.

Easter is a celebration of Jesus’ Resurrection. The Resurrection of Jesus is pivotal in our Christian faith. On this third Sunday of Easter, we are reminded of our duty as witnesses.
At the end of today’s gospel reading Jesus said to the disciples “Thus it is written that the Christ would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day and that repentance, for the forgiveness of sins, would be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things” (Lk 24:48) Peter says the same thing in our first reading: The author of life, you put to death, but God raised him from the dead; of this we are witnesses.

So as Jesus sent the disciples to preach repentance for the forgiveness of sins, we are also called upon to share our own Easter experience with others as witnesses. Our second reading today makes us understand that the best form of witnessing for Jesus is by walking in his light; obeying his commandments. In fact, as John puts it, it is only when we keep his commandments that we can we sure that we even know God at all. If we claim to know God with our lips while our actions proclaim a different Gospel, we are simply deceiving ourselves.

We were not physically at Calvary, but we are witnesses of the truth of our faith and the effects that Christ has on our lives. We are called to share the goodness and love He pours out on us to all those we meet. We are called to be evangelists by the way we live our lives. As we are still in the midst of this Easter season, let us take some time to think about what Christ did for us and the changes we should make in our daily lives to help us grow closer to Him.

Let us ask our Lord Jesus to fill us with all the graces, blessings and courage that we need to proclaim him to the world by our thoughts, words and deeds. Have a Happy Sunday!
