Dear people of God,

Good morning to you all. On this third Sunday of ordinary time, the Scripture readings focus our attention on the liberating power of the Word of God. The readings challenge us to listen to the Word, accept it into our hearts, then put it into practice as we live out our lives, thus liberating ourselves and others from all types of bondages.

01-16-2022Weekly ReflectionFr. Arul Doss

Dear People of God,

Since last Monday, the Liturgical Calendar opened unto us the Ordinary Season. The expression Ordinary Season signifies the period in which the synthesis of the life and ministry of Jesus Christ as recorded in the Gospels is recounted to us during the year. On this Sunday, we rejoice in God who never abandoned us to fate.

Solemnity of the Epiphany of Our Lord

01-02-2022Weekly ReflectionFr. Arul Doss

Dear People of God,

Again, I specially thank all those who decorated the Cribs and Churches in all our three parishes. I also sincerely thank you all who participated in Christmas Masses. This year too, it was a good attendance.

Today we celebrate the solemnity of Epiphany, and in a most special way the day of the three kings who brought Jesus very costly and symbolic gifts of gold, mire, and frankincense. The term Epiphany is of Greek origin, epiphaninen. It is a verb which means “to reveal,” or “to manifest.” In Sacred Scripture, we see that even the cosmos proclaimed the Lord’s coming with the Star in the east. After the Star appeared, the Magi traveled far to see the Child Jesus. When they saw the Child with His mother, they bowed down in adoration.

Feast of the Holy Family

12-26-2021Weekly ReflectionFr. Arul Doss

Dear Friends,

I wish you all a Happy and Prosperous New Year-2022. I specially thank all those who decorated the Cribs in all our three parishes. I also sincerely thank all those who sent me Christmas Cards.

This first Sunday of Christmas is dedicated to the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. There is no doubt that Jesus was born in a stable. He is God and could have been born with all the comforts that the world had to offer, but He chose to enter human history through a simple family.

Rejoice

12-12-2021Weekly ReflectionFr. Arul Doss

Dear People of God,

“Rejoice in the Lord always, I shall say it again: rejoice!” (Phil 4:4). We have arrived at Gaudete (Rejoice) Sunday. Today’s readings take on a joyful tone as we continue our preparations for the feast of our Savior’s birth. We can rejoice because the Eternal Word became Man out of love for us. Jesus came down from heaven to earth out of love for us. He was scourged, and died on the Cross and have Risen again out of love for us. These are all reasons to rejoice!

1st Week of Advent

11-28-2021Weekly ReflectionFr. Arul Doss

Dear People of God,

Good morning dear Friends. We have arrived at the powerful season of Advent, a season to prepare with awe and gratitude for the Feast of the Incarnation of Jesus, born to us as Savior and Brother. The term Advent comes from two Latin words Ad-ventus or ad-venire, which simply means “to arrive” or “to come” respectively.” It marks the beginning of the Church’s liturgical calendar. It is a four-week period leading up to Christmas. Advent is a time when we expect mercy and liberation because our Lord, the King of the universe whose solemnity we celebrated last Sunday comes with power to reign over his people.

Solemnity of Christ the King

11-21-2021Weekly ReflectionFr. Arul Doss

Dear People of God,

Good morning to you all. May our Christ the King Bless You all. On this last Sunday of Ordinary Time for the liturgical year, we celebrate the Feast of Christ the King. Pope Pius XI instituted this feast in 1925 when the world was experiencing a rise of secularism, materialism, and individualism and an increasing denial of Christ’s existence and authority.

Dear People of God,

Good morning to you all. Today is the 33rd Sunday. We are nearing the end of Church's Liturgical Year. Next Sunday is going to be Christ the King and then we enter into Advent. Today the readings direct our attention to the end of time. We are promised that if we are faithful, we shall be rewarded. We are promised that the Archangel Michael will be there helping us. We are told that the one great sacrifice for sins has been made and we must cling to the Lord. God will gather His elect and we must be ready.

God Knows Our Needs and How to Meet Them

11-07-2021Weekly ReflectionFr. Arul Doss

Dear People of God,

Good morning to you all. On this 32nd Sunday of ordinary time, the readings speak about God’s generosity and our trust in Divine Providence of God.

In our First Reading, the prophet Elijah encounters a widow during a terrible famine. She is preparing to make one last meal for herself and her son before their supply of food runs out. Elijah, acting as God’s messenger, tells her not to be afraid and asks her to give him something to eat before preparing a meal for herself and her son.
